Launched in early 2013, the Copenhagen-and-Stockholm-based candle brand Skandinavisk is a celebration of Scandinavia’s vast silent landscapes and raw seasons, of cosy shared moments, of the world’s happiest peoples.
The word “Skandinavisk” is Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian for “Scandinavian”. Combining subtle fragrance, colour, symbols and a single local word rich with meaning, Skandinavisk creates impressions of Scandinavia.
Fragrances are defined in Scandinavia and produced in Grasse, France (the home of perfume). Their candles hand-poured wax is a blend of perfume and vegetable wax with 100% cotton wicks. They can burn up to 50 hours and their beautiful glass containers can also be reused for tea lights, storage, collecting.

Ingredients/Material: Blend of perfume and vegetable wax, with a 100% cotton wick, hand-poured into a painted glass votive, with an engraved beechwood lid

Scent:
    • Baer [bare], reminisces of family trips to the forest to forage for cloudberries, blueberries and lingonberries, of sweet-smelling reductions on the stove and warm, zingy sauces poured over ice cream.
    • Fjord [fyor], coniferous forests, crashing waterfalls and abundant fruits magnify the drama of the Norwegian fjords. Joyous notes of woods and ripening orchards, wild berries, blackcurrants and raspberry flowers.
    • Hav [how] is Nordic for “sea”, the endless coastlines of Scandinavia surrounded by the cold waters of the North Atlantic, Baltic and Arctic seas. Notes of water flora, driftwood, sea froth and fresh air.
    • Hygge [hu-gah] is Danish DNA, a reflection of the Scandinavian art of creating intimacy, fellowship and cosiness in the smallest everyday moments. Notes of tea, baked strawberry cake, rose petals and wild mint.
    • Koto [ko-to] – the traditional Finnish word for “cosy at home”, a refuge from the rugged climate, an intimate space to refresh the soul. Notes of amber, exotic jasmine, mandarin and vanilla.
    • Lempi [lem-pe], old Finnish for love. In the days when love was shamelessly romantic and best savoured in black and white. A timeless blend of rose and strawberries, garden peony and oakmoss.
    • Lykke [lu-kurr], Danish for ‘happiness’. Renowned as the world’s happiest nation, the secret to Danish happiness is in life balance and treasuring the everyday. An optimistic moment of spring snowdrops, lemon-nettle and apple-mint.
    • Nordlys [nor-luce] is Norwegian for “northern light”. Magical, elusive, indefinable, the Northern Lights are one of nature’s seven wonders, a symphony of color, movement and scale once thought by ancient norse chroniclers to be sun flares, great ocean fires or glacial fluorescence.
    • Ro [ro], peace, calm and tranquility from the kingdoms of Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Notes of fresh grass, crumpled leaves, ambered woods and hidden blankets in the dunes.
    • Skog [skowg], Norwegian/Swedish for “forest”, stretching unbroken from the south of Scandinavia to the Arctic Circle. Notes of pine and fir, aged leather and woodland lily of the valley.
